Councilman Robert Hudak was appointed Manchester Township’s new mayor following the recent resignation of former Mayor Kenneth Palmer, who was appointed to a superior court judgeship.
Hudak was appointed through a unanimous vote by the Township Council at a council meeting on June 28th.
“I am honored that the council chose me to be the next mayor of Manchester Township. I am looking forward to working with all of you and I think we will continue to do great things for the township,” Hudak said after being sworn in as Mayor.
“Hudak brings a wealth of experience in government service.” said Councilman Sam Fusaro, who nominated Hudak. “His experience in numerous towns throughout New Jersey provides him with a great perspective.”
Hudak was first elected to the council in 2019 to fill an unexpired term. Voters elected him to a full term in 2020. He is a licensed professional land use planner by trade with over 20 years’ experience in municipal government, economic development, and preserving open space.
Hudak lives in the Pine Lake Park section of the Township with his wife Ellen and three school age children. He is involved with his family in numerous civic activities including little league, travel baseball, competitive dance, and serves as a lector at St. Luke’s, Toms River. He holds a master’s degree in public administration from Villanova University and has undergraduate degrees in both history and political science.
Mayor Hudak explains, “I want to continue our efforts to keep taxes low, support local businesses, and keep our community safe. I look forward to working with the Township Council on building upon our successful record and bringing new businesses to town while keeping the rural character of our community.” He wants residents to know that he understands the complexity of raising a family and is dedicated to make Manchester affordable for those families and our residents living on fixed incomes.
Hudak now succeeds Palmer, whose resignation was effective June 25. The Mayor’s position will be on the November 2, 2021 election to fill the Mayor’s unexpired term. Hudak already indicated he intends to seek election.
