Last week, Mayor Joseph Hankins, members of the Township Council, and our local elected officials had the honor of joining with our first responders and community partners to welcome
First Class Bertalan Gonci and his wife to their new home!
Through the Building Homes for Heroes program, Lennar and several local partners teamed up to construct a home for SFC Gonci, who served his country for 20 years before honorably and medically retiring in 2017. We invite you to learn about SFC Gonci’s heroic story in the below image.
“On behalf of myself, the Township Council, and the entire community, we extend our warmest welcome, and our deepest gratitude for your service and sacrifice,” said Mayor Hankins. “It’s not only about handing over the keys to the house. It’s about celebrating a new beginning. It’s about recognizing the sacrifices that were made by SFC Gonci and his family, and showing our appreciation in a way that reflects the strength, unity, and gratitude of this township.”
Along with representatives from Building Homes for Heroes and Lennar, joining in the ceremony were Senator Carmen Amato Jr. and Assemblyman Gregory E. Myhre of the 9th Legislative District, who presented a Proclamation in recognition SFC Gonci’s service, as they welcomed him home. Also in attendance were Ocean County Commissioner Robert Arace, members of the Manchester Police, and our volunteer and career first responders.
Thank you, SFC Gonci, for your dedicated service to our country. We join with a proud community in offering best wishes for many years of good health and happiness in your new home!
