Yes, the scenic views at Harry Wright Lake are confirmed to be romantic.
Several years ago, a widow and widower, Joan Barnard and Ed Hampson, met at a bench in the park in Manchester Township’s Whiting section. They hit if off, and ever since the couple enjoyed relaxing by the lake at “their” bench.
Sadly, Joan passed away in February, and Ed shortly after in April. To commemorate their loving companionship and the special times they spent together, their families commissioned a plaque to be installed on “their” bench.
This past weekend, Joan and Ed’s family members held a gathering at Harry Wright Lake to visit the bench and plaque, which was installed by Manchester Public Works. We were happy to help them celebrate this love story!
