Mayor Hudak Announces Acquisition of Surf and Stream Campground; Recreational Area Planned
Manchester Mayor Robert Hudak, in conjunction with the Ocean County Board of Commissioners and Ocean County Natural Lands Trust Fund Advisory Committee, announced the purchasing of the Surf and Stream campground located on the border of Manchester and Toms River townships. The land purchase is in conjunction with the County’s plan to purchase the Toms River Boys Scouts property that boarders the Surf and Stream property in order to create a passive recreational area for residents to enjoy scenic trails along the Union Branch of the Toms River Creek. The Manchester Township Council authorized the resolution of support during its final meeting of 2021. The 20-acre purchase deal is expected to be a total of $7.45 million with Manchester Township contributing $1.5 million in township open space funds in order to preserve the blighted area from the future development of approximately 245 homes. “I’m proud to have worked with the [...]
Manchester Township Awarded DCA Grants for Tuskegee Park Upgrades
Today Manchester Mayor Robert Hudak announced the securing of a DCA grant that will be utilized to upgrade the Tuskegee Airmen community park. “I’m pleased to share with our community that the State Department of Community Affairs has awarded our community with a $80,000 grant, through their Local Recreation Improvement Grant (LRIG) program. This grant will be utilized alongside a $35,000 grant we received through the federal CDBG program to upgrade this same park with new playground equipment and rehabilitate the basketball courts,” stated Mayor Hudak. “I would like to thank Colliers Engineering and Public Works Director Al Yodakis for their diligence on this grant submission which secured these additional grant funds to complete this important project and we hope to have this project bid out this summer.” Out of several hundred applicants, Manchester was one of 162 applications that was awarded and is tied for the largest grant allotment [...]
Manchester Township Council Reorganizes for 2022; Mayor Hudak Outlines Goals for New Year
Mayor Robert Hudak and the Manchester Township Council are prepared for a productive year in 2022, as Oaths of Office were administered and plans for the upcoming year were outlined during the January 4, 2022, Reorganization Meeting held in the Municipal Complex Courtroom. To begin the meeting, Mayor Robert Hudak took his Oath of Office, having won election this past November to an unexpired term that ends in 2022. Unanimously appointed by the Township Council to the position of Mayor in June of 2021 following the resignation of former Mayor Ken Palmer, Mayor Hudak previously served as a Township Council member beginning in 2019. Taking her oath next was Councilwoman Michele Zolezi, who was unanimously appointed to the Township Council to assume to seat vacated when Mr. Hudak was appointed as Mayor.
