Year after year, we are always proud to see the tremendous support from so many in our community on Memorial Day. This morning’s commemoration at Grand Army Memorial Park, Pine Lake Park, to honor those who bravely served our Country was moving, as always.

During his keynote address, Mayor Ken Palmer honored the many residents of Manchester Township who gave their lives or have suffered the loss of a loved one while in service to our Country. He reminded us of how important it remains to honor and thank those who gave their lives so that we may live in a free Country.

Joining Mayor Palmer at the ceremony was Councilwoman Joan Brush and members of the Manchester Veterans Advisory Committee. All were touched by the proceedings, which included patriotic musical performances, a martial arts demonstration, presentation of wreaths by local organizations, and the playing of “taps.”

Thank you to Manchester Recreation for organizing this event each year, and to all of the residents and civic groups that were in attendance. We also thank all those who participated in the program, including the Manchester Police honor guard, Arthur M. Wright Jr., Chairman of the Veterans Advisory Committee, Rev. David Rittinger of Whiting Bible Church, the Singing Raconteurs, Manchester Township High School Marching Band, Master Manny’s Kum Sung, and Destiny Marcinczyk. You all helped to make this Memorial Day commemoration special.

A special congratulations goes to the winners of the Bike Decorating Contest, Jolene (3rd place), Caitlin (2nd place), and Sydney and Henry (1st place)!
