MANCHESTER EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION SYSTEM

The Township of Manchester is pleased to announce that a new Emergency notification system provided by Global connect has been implemented and
ready for use.  The system is a means of communications to notify residents of the community in the event of an emergency, or important information that
needs to be distributed to the general public in a timely manner.  The system allows the Police Department or Emergency Management offices to send
out pre-recorded phone messages or create a phone message to be distributed to all of the residents of Manchester Township.  The system allows for the
notification of residents to any number that is on file up to six (6) phone numbers per household to be notified in the event of an emergency situation.
The phone numbers were obtained after signing agreements with Verizon to obtain the 9-1-1 database for all Manchester Township addresses.  Once this
database was obtained it was then uploaded to the Global  Connect system.


The phone numbers in the database include residential as well as commercial phone numbers.
    The only phone numbers this database does not have is cell phone numbers and work numbers (without extensions).  Therefore, any resident wishing to
have there cell phone numbers and or work numbers (without extensions) entered into the Manchester Township Emergency notification system must fill
out a form that can be obtained from the Township website at http://www.manchestertwp.com , or by stopping by Manchester Township Town Hall
Monday – Friday between 0830am and 4pm and obtain the form from the front desk.


    Upon completing the form it is to be returned to the address listed on the form and then the cell phone number(s) and or work number (without
extension)  you wish to be contacted at will be entered into the Emergency Notification system.


    Another advantage of the system is to allow the Emergency Notification of residents by clicking on a map and allowing lines to be drawn on a map so
only those people living within that specific boundary will be notified by telephone of the situation that is occurring.
    There are many other advantages to the system to the system that will greatly enhance notification of residents via various offices of the
municipality but only when the person registers with that particular office. For example, Social Services will enter their clientele into the system in
the event that they have to notify the residents that no drivers will be available for that day.  Recreation can enter residents into the program to
be notified during summer camp that camp is canceled for the day, once the person has registered with the recreation department.
    This system can be accessed by any police supervisor, department head , or employee that has been given access to the system by the department head
from any computer whether it be from their home, office, or command post at the scene of disaster situation.  The system will also be utilized to call
out employees and the CERT team in the event of a disaster situation.
